Summary

Business Model Generation is a handbook for visionaries, game changers, and challengers striving to defy outmoded business models and design tomorrow's enterprises。 If your organization needs to adapt to harsh new realities, but you don't yet have a strategy that will get you out in front of your competitors, you need Business Model Generation。 Co-created by 470 -Business Model Canvas- practitioners from 45 countries, the book features a beautiful, highly visual, 4-color design that takes powerful strategic ideas and tools, and makes them easy to implement in your organization。 It explains the most common Business Model patterns, based on concepts from leading business thinkers, and helps you reinterpret them for your own context。 You will learn how to systematically understand, design, and implement a game-changing business model--or analyze and renovate an old one。 Along the way, you'll understand at a much deeper level your customers, distribution channels, partners, revenue streams, costs, and your core value proposition。

Business Model Generation features practical innovation techniques used today by leading consultants and companies worldwide, including 3M, Ericsson, Capgemini, Deloitte, and others。 Designed for doers, it is for those ready to abandon outmoded thinking and embrace new models of value creation: for executives, consultants, entrepreneurs, and leaders of all organizations。 If you're ready to change the rules, you belong to -the business model generation!-

Give a good advice and examples for everyone who try to plans their business, able to apply to any business from the smallest to the biggest。

The graphics are where very useful in making me understand the concepts thought by the book, however, I felt some concepts needed to be explained better through words to go along with the imagery。

Great ideas in terms of how to think about business models, but much too long。 I would have preferred to have the same content condensed down to about 25% the length of this book by simply being more concise in the wording and leaving out at least half of the examples and images, which I didn't feel added all that much clarity to the text。 Still definitely worth the read to learn about this approach to business models, though! It was a nice read, the book is a bit older so some things are outdated。 The way it describes bringing ideas to reality is not new, in fact a lot of books have been written about this。 The way the business model canvas works is new, it is till today the most solid start for any idea or revamp for a business。 I highly recommend it to company owners and people who like to explore more about creating ideas。

。。。more

It's a decent book for starters。 That's it。 It teaches the different businesses models with famous examples but I wasn't able to find any "eureka" moment in the entire book。Biggest pro: Simple and straightforward。 Even a 5 year old could read it and end up understanding how big companies earn money。 The biggest con:It's way too simple It's a decent book for starters。 That's it。 It teaches the different businesses models with famous examples but I wasn't able to find any "eureka" moment in the entire book。Biggest pro: Simple and straightforward。 Even a 5 year old could read it and end up understanding how big companies earn money。 The biggest con:It's way too simple 。。。more

This book should be one of your primary references if you want to get your ideas organized for developing and writing a business model。 The book is packed with concepts that are foundational, effective tools to get you started and move forward。 It is made clear in the beginning that the book does not have all the details but it covers so much that you won't be disappointed。 This book should be one of your primary references if you want to get your ideas organized for developing and writing a business model。 The book is packed with concepts that are foundational, effective tools to get you started and move forward。 It is made clear in the beginning that the book does not have all the details but it covers so much that you won't be disappointed。 。。。more

I remember hearing about this book around 10 years ago, and when I was in Taiwan it was very popular (I think it had been recently translated into Chinese), and there was more than one entrepreneur meetup where someone showed up carrying this book。 So I had been curious about it for a while and, when I saw it at 2nd and Charles, I decided to give it a go。 We'll see how well this pans out for me。 All I can say is I have gone through this and will be applying these steps to my business。 Going thro I remember hearing about this book around 10 years ago, and when I was in Taiwan it was very popular (I think it had been recently translated into Chinese), and there was more than one entrepreneur meetup where someone showed up carrying this book。 So I had been curious about it for a while and, when I saw it at 2nd and Charles, I decided to give it a go。 We'll see how well this pans out for me。 All I can say is I have gone through this and will be applying these steps to my business。 Going through the model and following the steps already allowed me to find some alternate options for my business (e。g。 adding a freemium option and trying to partner up with some providers)。 In the meantime I actually really found it useful。 It allowed me to look at all the aspects of my business with an objective eye。 Some points didn't apply to me (as can be expected), and I found the "creative" design to be a distraction at some points, but all in all it was a great exercise。 I ended up using a bunch of post-it notes on all its tables, and found the progression made sense。 I also appreciated that it was somewhat 'academic', for lack of a better term。 Too many of these business books try to be too user-friendly, which often means trying to take away any exercise or process that might seem tedious。 Not so with this book。 So at times it felt like a bit much, but I think these exercises were needed in the end。 Once again, we'll see how it pans out。。。 。。。more

This book somewhat reads like a picture book of the business model canvas。 Was useful for my assignments related to these concepts but felt a bit like a high level overview to me and I found myself sometimes looking for more details on particular concepts covered。 Definitely a good concept book but perhaps serves as a companion to something more in depth。 Great for visual learners。
